Allegiant Air is no longer operating 61 routes, including service from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Los Angeles, according to Simple Flying, an online industry publication.
Allegiant discontinued all operations at Los Angeles International Airport on Jan. 3, including its nonstop flights between the local airport and and Los Angeles that had been operating since 2017.
Allegiant cites fuel costs, shifting demand for pullback
The Cincinnati route is one of 61 routes the ultra-low cost carrier was operating last summer than will no longer be operating in July, Simple Flying reported.
Allegiant’s changes are intended to address higher fuel costs, reduce capacity during slower travel periods and better align its network with shifting leisure travel demand, according to the publication.
Airline pulls back from major airports
In addition, Las Vegas-based Allegiant is planning to withdraw entirely from several major U.S. airports, including the Los Angeles airport: Oakland International Airport; and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Calls and emails to Allegiant’s media contacts were not immediately returned for comment Tuesday morning.
Amid the cuts, Allegiant has added 49 new routes, including a new route from the Cincinnati airport to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California, that the carrier announced on May 21.
