“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” the highly-anticipated sequel starring Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly and Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, hits theaters May 1. According to Variety, the film is estimated to make $75 million to $80 million (or more) during its debut across 4,100 North American theaters.

Several A-list celebrities who starred in the original “Devil Wears Prada” film have reprised their roles for the 2026 sequel including: Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Tibor Feldman and Tracie Thoms.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” will also feature several newcomers such as Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora.
‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is ‘a love letter to journalists’
“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” set 20 years after the events of the hit 2006 movie, follows Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of Runway fashion magazine, and her former assistant Andy Sachs as they take a “valiant last stand for print media against the rapidly changing tides of AI and monetized digital content,” USA TODAY writes.
Directed by David Frankel, son of famed New York Times editor Max Frankel, the sequel picks up with Andy, an award-winning reporter who lands back at Runway after she and many others are suddenly laid off from a New York newspaper. Now the magazine’s features editor, Andy struggles to create “worthwhile” journalism as a revolving door of media executives demand more page views, more exclusives, more ad dollars and more social content.
“It is a love letter to journalists,” Hathaway said. “There are so many aspects of our society that are under siege right now, and one of the ones that frightens us the most is the way journalism is under siege and what’s happening to truth. So it’s very important to be on the right side of history when it comes to this particular issue.”

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is not just a “fun fashion movie,” Streep told USA TODAY. The long-awaited sequel also has a soundtrack worth adding to your Apple Music or Spotify libraries.
Per Stereogum, you can expect to hear songs from Doechii, Dua Lipa, Olivia Dean, SZA, Raye, The Marías, Laufey, Ledisi, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, who has three songs on the tracklist.
George Clooney’s vacation home makes a cameo in ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’
Cincinnati movie lovers, this one’s for you.
A home owned by Cincinnati-raised actor George Clooney, who lived in Mason from 1968-74, made a surprise cameo in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” Entertainment Weekly reports. Clooney’s Lake Como estate, Villa Oleandra, can be seen in the background of a scene where Hathaway and Blunt are riding a speedboat across the Italian lake, the site writes. The 100,000-square-foot estate, estimated at $100 million, is also featured in the trailer for the film.
There could be a ‘Devil Wears Prada 3’
In a conversation with USA TODAY, Streep and Hathaway joked about the possibility of there being a third installment to the “The Devil Wears Prada” franchise.
Although both of the film’s stars have only reprised one or two characters in their career, they said they would be down to shoot “The Devil Wears Prada 3.”
“It’s open-ended,” Streep says. “You want to see where that goes; you want to see what she does in her life. I haven’t made a lot of movies that are not finite. They finish when they finish. They don’t feel like, ‘I can’t wait to see what Julia Child does next!'”
Streep added that she would also team up with Hathaway for a movie musical at some point.
“Maybe that’s the third one!” Hathaway joked. “‘The Devil Wears Prada Sings!'”
