A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized after a shooting during a home invasion the night of June 23 in South Akron, police Lt. Michael Murphy said in a press release.
Officers responded to shooting reports at about 9:38 p.m. in the 300 block of East Crosier Street. Upon arrival, police located the victim, who reportedly sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her legs and abdomen. Officers immediately gave the victim medical assistance until the paramedics arrived, Murphy said.
The victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Her condition was not immediately reported.
An initial investigation indicated multiple masked suspects entered the home through the rear door of the residence and opened fire, hitting the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene, Murphy said.
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating the incident.
