A 16-year-old was shot in the head on May 15 in the parking lot of Vapes R Us, according to the Akron Police Department.
At 7:36 p.m., multiple reports came in about the shooting located at the 1000 block of South Arlington Street.
Officers received additional information indicating that someone was taking the victim to an area hospital. They were able to locate the car when it arrived at Summa Health Akron and found the male teen.
He was admitted for evaluation, and his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation revealed that three juvenile males were sitting inside of a carwhen the suspects approached them and opened fire.
The juveniles attempted to flee the area before the car crashed into a fence. A passerby then drove the victim to the hospital after being asked to help.
Detectives are actively reviewing evidence and working to identify the suspects. The incident remains under investigation.
