Will Plunkett leads 2026 Westchester/Putnam baseball all-star team

This weekend or in the immediate days following, it wouldn’t be shocking if some of today’s top high school baseball players, as listed below, quickly change into professional players, regardless of the fact they’re just 17 or 18 years of age.

Anywhere from one to several of the Westchester/Putnam baseball all-stars for 2026 may be taken in this weekend’s MLB Draft. Others will go on to play collegiate ball, some are either pursuing other sports or no sports in college and some who’ve made the lists below as underclassmen will no doubt be back on high school diamonds next year.

Below are this year’s selections, topped by Mamaroneck’s Will Plunkett, the only local player and, for that matter, player in the state to so far receive national honors for his 2026 play.

Note: Selections were based in part on season stats and overall contribution to team and, to a smaller extent, opponents’ level of play and college baseball commitment. Players were chosen from those selected as All-Section 1 and CHSAA all-star roles.

Will Plunkett

Westchester/Putnam Baseball Player of the Year

School: Mamaroneck

Year: Senior

Positions: Shortstop

Highlights: Plunkett, who’s committed to play for SUNY Binghamton next year, but recently attended the MLB Combine and is expected to be drafted, had a huge year, displaying power, speed and a great ability to get on base. Over 26 games, he had a .611 on-base percentage and hit .485 with 32 hits, including six home runs. Plunkett drew 28 walks, had 28 RBI, scored 36 runs and had 23 stolen bases and was a big reason Mamaroneck won the Section 1 Class AAA championship, giving coach Mike Chiapparelli his 700th career win as Tigers varsity coach. Plunkett also was named Second Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was the only player from New York who was honored by that organization.
