Who's on my ballot in Irondequoit? Election 2025 candidates

This year, Irondequoit residents will cast their ballots for five town positions, two state Supreme Court judgeships and a Family Court judge.

To help inform your vote, we sent brief questionnaires through the party chairpersons to all candidates in contested races. Those with expanded information and photos below responded to the questionnaire. Responses have been lightly edited for clarity and space.

Irondequoit Town Board (2)

Lisa Barrett, R, C

Age: 66

Current or prior elected office: None.

Professional experience: 35 years of experience working in the civil engineering industry on more than 30 public works projects for the New York State Department of Transportation, City of Rochester Department of Environmental Services, Monroe County Department of Transportation and surrounding county municipalities for heavy highway, roadway and bridge construction projects.

Top priority: Cut taxes, assure tax assessments are performed properly, resume fall leaf pickup. There needs to be transparency/accountability from the town leaders. Accountability in effective leadership can be achieved by setting clear expectations, leading by example, owning one’s mistakes, follow through on commitments, provide feedback, being proactive to address issues, recognition, and reward. This builds trust in relationships.

Ann E. Cunningham, D, WF (incumbent)

Current or prior elected office: Irondequoit Town Board, 2024-present. Also served on the West Irondequoit Central School District Board of Education from 2011 to 2023.

Professional experience: Executive director of Oasis Rochester

Top priority: Since joining the Irondequoit Town Board, I’ve focused on what matters most to residents: public safety, fiscal responsibility, and building an accessible, inclusive community that supports healthy aging. I’m proud to have led the adoption of our Age-Friendly Livable Community resolution, making Irondequoit the first town in Monroe County to join this national initiative. My priorities moving forward include developing a waste management district with leaf pickup and composting, launching a volunteer transportation program for older adults, and improving walkability and bike safety through strong partnerships with local organizations and our county legislative team.

Michael Voigt, R, C

Peter R. Wehner, D (incumbent)

Age: 63

Current or prior elected office: Currently serving on the Irondequoit Town Board and as Deputy Supervisor.

Professional experience: Vice President and Board Member of Passero Associates, a 200-person architecture and engineering firm. Retired Professor of Practice in Architecture at RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability. Strategic Council Member of the American Institute of Architects and Vice President of the Construction Specifications Institute. Extensive experience leading municipal projects including libraries, community centers, and public safety facilities across New York State.

Top priority: My top priority is modernizing our town’s infrastructure and public services while keeping taxes stable. I’ve championed forward-looking initiatives such as the short-term rental law, the refuse district and leaf collection studies, and improvements to public safety and active transportation. In my next term, I’ll continue focusing on efficient government, sustainability, and quality of life — ensuring Irondequoit remains a great place for all generations to live, work, and thrive.

Irondequoit Town Justice (2)
