This year, Greece residents will cast their ballots for four town positions, two state Supreme Court judgeships and a Family Court judge.
To help inform your vote, we sent brief questionnaires through the party chairpersons to all candidates in contested races. Those with expanded information and photos below responded to the questionnaire. Responses have been lightly edited for clarity and space.

Greece Town Supervisor
Jeffery L McCann, D, C
Age: 61
Current or prior elected office: Currently serving as Deputy County Executive; was a Monroe County Legislator between 2003 and 2013.
Professional experience: Greece Deputy Supervisor, County Legislator, and Deputy County Executive
Top priority: Jeff McCann is focused on restoring transparency, accountability, and trust in Greece town government. His priorities include strengthening public safety, supporting small businesses and the revitalization of Greece Ridge Mall, and expanding housing opportunities to ensure people who grew up in Greece are able to raise a family and retire here. Jeff believes in practical, community-driven solutions that put residents first and ensure Greece remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Bill Murphy, R
Age: 61
Current or prior elected office: Greece Town Board Member, 2nd Ward
Professional experience: I have 40 years of public service: 29 years as a police officer and police chief. I have served on the Greece Board of Zoning Appeals, the Library Board, and on the New York State Finger Lakes Regional Youth Justice Team, which studied the Raise the Age law for juveniles.
Top priority: Public safety remains my top priority. Ensuring our residents are safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and public spaces requires ongoing investment in police staffing, modern technology, and School Resource Officers to protect students and staff. Over the past eight years as councilman, I have reduced the town’s tax rate from $6.33 to $5.93 per thousand, while enhancing our community amenities. I remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility ― because every family deserves to feel safe and confident in the Town of Greece.
Greece Town Board, Ward 1
David DiPonzio, R, C (incumbent)
Greece Town Board, Ward 2
Spencer Bernard, R, C
Age: 35
Current or prior elected office: None.
Professional experience: I grew up working in my family’s small business, Bernard’s Grove, and later gained experience in real estate and construction. Since 2019, I’ve served as Chief of Staff for the Town of Pittsford, where I focus on town operations, budgeting, infrastructure improvements and assisting residents.
Top priority: My priorities focus on maintaining the high quality of life that makes Greece a great place to live. I’ll promote transparent, efficient and accountable town government that works for everyone. Keeping our community safe will remain a top priority, with continued support for law enforcement and emergency services. I’ll encourage responsible development that protects open space while strengthening our local economy. Through careful budgeting and smart fiscal management, I’ll work to keep Greece affordable for families and seniors while delivering strong services, reliable infrastructure and value for every tax dollar.
Jim Leary, D
Current or prior elected office: None.
Professional experience: Police officer for 29 years in the Town of Greece.
Top priority: Taxes, fiscal responsibility and transparency: We need a full and complete forensic audit. Public safety: Restructure the police department. Bring back the public safety committee, school resource officer at no cost to the school district, and the traffic enforcement unit to include commercial vehicle inspections. Community development: We cannot afford vacant stores including the mall at Greece Ridge. I would create a police task force to work with the mall and increase police visibility at the mall especially during the holiday season. I would have a town wide list of all vacant buildings so when a new applicant applies for new construction permits we can offer an alternative to new construction. Housing: Ensure that rising property tax values are not pushing out residents out of the town. Ensure that we have sufficient senior housing that our seniors can afford.
Greece Town Board, Ward 3
Michael Bloomer, R, C (incumbent)
Age: 58
Current or prior elected office: Served on the Greece Town Board since 2021.
Professional experience: Served with the Ridge Road Fire District in the Town of Greece for more than 31 years, including more than 19 years as a chief fire officer. While serving at the fire district, I represented the district on the Greece Traffic Advisory Committee, managed a $2 million capital improvement project, served as the accreditation manager and served as a liaison to the Unity Hospital Emergency Management Team.
Top priority: My priorities are public safety, cutting taxes and increasing jobs. I have provided the necessary equipment, facilities and funding to enhance our local police department. I understand that having a well-trained, local police department will enhance the safety of our residents and visitors. I voted for balanced budgets, lower tax rates and decreasing the town’s indebtedness. I know that keeping the town’s tax burden well controlled while providing outstanding services such as our library, recreational opportunities and an excellent public works departments enhances our great town.
