Where does the Jets' QB supporting cast rank ahead of 2026 NFL season?

The New York Jets invested considerable resources around quarterback Geno Smith this offseason.

The team spent first-round picks at the 2026 NFL Draft on wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and tight end Kenyon Sadiq. Playmakers Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have been signed to long-term extensions.

It’s not just about setting Smith up for instant success. Darren Mougey has built a stellar supporting cast around an eventual rookie quarterback. Whenever the Jets draft their quarterback, the rookie will inherit strong weapons around him.

Fox Sports apparently isn’t impressed. The outlet recently ranked all 32 supporting casts around every starting quarterback in the league. They ranked the Jets’ supporting cast 27th, sixth-worst in the entire NFL.

“If they ever do find a quarterback, there is potential with this offensive group — though for the most part, it’s still only potential,” veteran NFL reporter Fox Sports wrote. “The Jets drafted Omar Cooper and Kenyon Sadiq in the first round, so maybe they’ll have a little more offensive diversity for new offensive coordinator Frank Reich. And maybe the offensive line, anchored by bookend tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou, can continue to improve after a solid 2025. Those are a lot of “maybes.” But maybe the offensive foundation is finally there.”

The Jets have a better supporting cast than indicated. A lack of recent success combined with the lack of a long-term solution at quarterback makes everything look worse. If the Jets ever figure out the quarterback spot, a strong supporting cast is already in place.
