Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Westchester County in the Town of Pound Ridge, and easily missed unless you’re looking for it, lies the tiny hamlet of Scotts Corners.
With a population of under 700 according to the 2020 census, and occupying less than 2 square miles, the hamlet, which borders Connecticut, is largely composed of a small quarter mile downtown that consists of two streets with shops, a hardware store and several restaurants.
“It’s a wonderful little town,” said Niels Wittus, who owns Wittus Fire by Design. “One stop light, not a lot of crazy traffic.”
Curtis Lew, a 30-year resident, said the hamlet “flies under the radar, because it’s off the beaten track, and it’s a little sleepy.” After residing in New York City, he said, it was “a very big surprise that I would end up living here.” After retiring, he took a part-time job in town at Chubby’s Hardware, where he still works. “Some people don’t like it because it’s too quiet”, he adds. “It’s got a lot without having to go far.”
David Rosenbloom has lived in the hamlet for more than 20 years and was out recently with his son Dylan, walking their three dogs. “Scott’s Corners is a fabulous place to raise your children,” Rosenbloom said. “It’s quiet, it’s commutable to New York City, everybody’s nice and welcoming, it’s got a small-town feel, with sophisticated people.”
