Two Lower Hudson Valley restaurants — one a longtime Westchester stalwart and another a Rockland newcomer — have closed.
Details follow.
Buon Amici Italian Restaurant, White Plains
There’s nothing on its (still live) website but the signage is down at this Italian spot, which has been a Central Park Avenue fixture since February 2000. The restaurant’s phone and Facebook are also no longer active. There is, however, a small sign posted on a pillar outside the eatery saying it’s relocating “a hop, skip and a jump away,” and to “stay tuned.” There are no other details despite repeated attempts to reach the owner.
Kantina Kita, Nyack
A lot of factors played a part in the demise of Kantina Kita, which opened last March in Nyack. Chef/Owner Chris Holland, a three-time “Chopped” champion, cited the mixed economic landscape, elevated operating expenses and the challenges of running two restaurants (he also owns Kantina in Sparkill). The restaurant, which permanently closed May 30, was known for its inventive Asian dishes with one side designed for dining and the other for casual takeout.
Holland said he’s proud of the product he put out and plans on featuring some of Kita favorites at Kantina this summer. Kantina, an Asian-inspired “takoria” and cocktail bar, is at 4 Depot Square in Sparkill.
