A tractor operator died Sept. 12 following a crash in Burdett, according to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
Schuyler County deputies responded to state Route 227 in Burdett for a report of a tractor accident around 6:40 p.m. on Friday evening.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the tractor was towing an overweight trailer and lost control rounding a curve, which resulted in a rollover and the operator being ejected from the tractor, the sheriff’s office said.
The operator of the tractor was taken by helicopter to Robert Packer Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members.
New York State Police, Burdett Fire & Rescue and Centralus Health Ambulance assisted at the scene.
