A tour bus and semi-truck in New York State were involved in a serious crash on the New York State Thurway between Rochester and Buffalo, closing a portion of the highway. Multiple casualties have been confirmed, including children. Five people are confirmed dead.
New York State Police provided an update stating that multiple passengers were ejected from the bus, and some are still trapped.
In a post on Facebook, the New York State Police said that all lanes on Interstate 90 near Pembroke, New York, were closed and told travelers to expect heavy delays. Emergency personnel are on scene, and additional ambulances and medical support have been requested, according to state police.
According to reporting from Spectrum News 1, police said 52 people were inside the bus at the time of the crash.
The New York State Thruway Authority says New York State Police Troops A (Batavia) and E (Canandaigua) are handling the incident.

Tour bus crash on Interstate 490 in Rochester: Nov. 2024
A tour bus crash on Interstate 490 in Chili, near Rochester, injured 28 people, including one critically, on Nov. 7, 2024. The bus, carrying 27 adults and one child, overturned on the highway near Union Street. Responding deputies said they found the bus on its side, rotated 180 degrees, with two people still inside and numerous injured passengers walking along the highway “in a state of confusion.”
Tour bus crash on Interstate 87: Jan. 2024
On Jan. 5, 2024, a tour bus traveling through upstate New York from Montreal, Canada rolled over on Interstate 87 southbound in Lake George, resulting in the death of one passenger, a passenger with serious injuries and 10 passengers with non-life threatening injuries.

Two people died in a bus crash taking students from Farmingdale High School to a band camp in northeastern Pennsylvania on Sept. 21, 2023 after the bus rolled down a 50-foot ravine in Wawayanda.
Tour bus crash on New York State Thruway: Aug. 2021
A tour bus headed to Niagara Falls from Poughkeepsie ran off the New York State Thruway west of Syracuse on Aug. 14, 2021 and rolled over, leaving 57 people injured but no fatalities.
Tour bus crash on Interstate 390: July 2011
On July 17, 2011, a tire blew out on a tour bus along Interstate 390 in Steuben County, killing two and injuring 35. The bus was heading to Niagara Falls from Washington D.C. when it veered off the highway and overturned in the median.
Bus crash near Victor NY: June 2002
Five passengers were killed on June 23, 2002 after a bus traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near Victor left the roadway and rolled on it’s side as it approached the Exit 45 ramp. The driver and 41 passengers were injured.
