Boy, 14, charged in shooting of 2 other teens in Akron's North Hill

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday, April 29 in connection with a North Hill shooting April 24 that left two teenagers wounded, according to the Akron Police Department.

The teen was arrested and taken into custody at the 1700 block of Piedmont Avenue by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, according to a media release sent April 30 by Akron police. He is charged with two counts of felonious assault and is being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

On April 24, Akron police officers had responded to a shooting on West Salome Avenue near Carlysle Street. Responding officers found two 14-year-old male victims inside a residence, both with gunshot wounds. One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was found near the front door. The second victim was located in the living room with a gunshot wound to the pelvic area.

Both victims were taken by ambulance to Akron Children’s Hospital. Their injuries were believed to be non-life threatening, according to an earlier report from the Akron police department. No updates on their condition were immediately available.

Detectives determined that both victims were shot while on the front porch of the residence, according Akron police.
