Title contenders rise up in latest boys lacrosse state rankings

On the eve of the boys lacrosse section semifinals, there’s new state rankings.

Such lists become somewhat moot this time of year, as the “better” team is no longer hypothetical. But it’s still worth a look at where Section V teams stack up state-wide.

Biggest rise: While its season came to a close, Irondequoit impressed in its final game of the season. The Eagles gave powerhouse Victor a scare over the weekend in the Class B section quarterfinals. While Irondequoit ultimately lost a three-goal game, that performance warranted a jump of five spots.

Biggest fall: Spencerport dropped a heartbreaker over the weekend, losing in overtime of the Class B section quarterfinals to Webster Thomas. The Rangers are down six spots on this week’s list.
