Siblings indicted on kidnapping, robbery charges in Spring Valley case

SPRING VALLEY – Two brothers were indicted on Friday, Feb. 6 on kidnapping and robbery charges in Rockland County Court, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s office.

The charges stem from an incident investigated by Spring Valley Police Department. According to Spring Valley Police, a robbery investigation turned into a reported kidnapping case when a victim reported he had been held for hours against his will.

The incident occurred on Jan. 13, Spring Valley Police Department stated, when they responded to a report of a robbery at 12:30 a.m.

On Feb. 2, police said, the siblings, Adil Awan, village resident, and Adeel Awan of New Jersey, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The Rockland DA reported that both were released Feb. 5 on bail and are due to be arraigned in the near future.

Investigation turns into kidnap probe

Police said their investigation turned up the hours-long confinement of the reported victim, who police said was assaulted. Police said property was also stolen.
