Should the New York Jets sign former Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks?

Earlier this week, the Tennessee Titans released wide receiver Treylon Burks from injured reserve.

Unsurprisingly, Burks cleared waivers and he’s now immediately available to sign with a team of his choosing. He went unclaimed because nobody wanted to inherit the remaining terms of his rookie contract.

Burks entered the NFL as a first-round selection of the Titans in 2022. Recurring injuries and consistency issues derailed his time in Nashville.

Burks was an incredibly talented prospect coming out of Arkansas.

The New York Jets (0-5) should strongly consider taking a flier on his talent by signing him.

The Jets have been searching for an appropriate WR2 opposite Garrett Wilson. Aging veterans like Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds obviously aren’t the long-term answers.

The organization whiffed on Malachi Corley. Rookie Arian Smith is still developing and showing promising potential.

Furthermore, Burks is a big-bodied boundary wideout who is a plus run-blocker. His physical approach would suit offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand’s offense. Burks is aggressive when running routes in space, and could help Justin Fields by creating yards after catch for himself.

The Jets are a rebuilding, proven by their lackluster 0-5 record.

Head coach Aaron Glenn is resetting the culture and evaluating the roster. Burks, a fourth-year pro, would be a worthwhile low-cost investment to explore if he could help the offense in 2026.
