Several beaches in three Westchester County localities are closed for Wednesday, July 9, due to rainfall over the past 24 hours, the county government said.
Beach-goers are advised to avoid the water at the beaches Wednesday because of bacterial contamination from road runoff into drainage outfalls near the beaches.
Westchester beaches to reopen July 10
The beaches can reopen Thursday, July 10, the county’s news release said. Closed preemptively for Wednesday, due to 0.67 inches of rain during the 24-hour period, are:
In New Rochelle: Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club and Surf Club on the Sound
In Mamaroneck: Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club
In Rye: Coveleigh Club
