Aneka Connor pleaded guilty in state Supreme Court to second-degree manslaughter and second-degree reckless endangerment, both felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, in connection with the death of her son Ca’hry Gibson, according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

What led to Ca’hry Gibson’s death

Gibson, 16, was found unconscious in the street on Breck Street on Oct. 10 after he jumped onto his mother’s vehicle during an argument over his cell phone, according to police.

Video evidence showed the vehicle accelerating, causing the teenager to fall to the pavement. He was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died nearly a month later – on Nov. 7 – due to the injuries he suffered during the fall.

Mother sentenced

Connor was indicted by a Monroe County Grand Jury and was arrested in December. She was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in state prison by state Supreme Court Justice Stephen Miller as part of the plea agreement, according to the DA’s Office.
