Two former Bills top list of best remaining NFL free agents

The Buffalo Bills spent the offseason reshaping their pass rushers and pass catchers.

Two familiar names are still available.

Former Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa and wide receiver Stefon Diggs were ranked as the top two remaining NFL free agents from NFL.com’s original list of the top 101 players available this offseason.

The list, compiled by NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal, has been updated throughout free agency as players signed with teams.

Buffalo signed two players from the original top 101 list, adding former Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb (No. 52) and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (No. 98). Chubb was ranked between Bosa and Diggs on the initial list prior to free agency in March.

Joey Bosa remains unsigned after one season with Bills

Bosa’s time in Buffalo lasted only one season, but the former No. 3 overall pick showed he can still make an impact.

The veteran pass rusher signed with the Bills on a one-year deal for the 2025 season and stayed healthy after injuries slowed the last few years of his Los Angeles Chargers career.

Bosa finished second on the Bills with five sacks and led the NFL with five forced fumbles in 15 games.

“Bosa took over a few games early last season and proved to be a quality pickup overall for the Bills,” Rosenthal wrote. “But he faded badly and ultimately hurt his team in the playoffs.”

Buffalo moved in a different direction this offseason, signing Chubb to a three-year, $43.5 million contract and selecting Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Chubb had 8.5 sacks last season with the Miami Dolphins.

Stefon Diggs still available after Super Bowl run

Diggs’ Buffalo chapter ended two years ago, but he remains one of the biggest names on the market.

The Bills acquired Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, giving Allen the No. 1 receiver who helped transform Buffalo’s passing attack.

Diggs made four Pro Bowls with the Bills and had four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons before being traded to the Houston Texans before the 2024 season. He suffered a torn ACL with the Texans and signed a three-year contract with the New England Patriots in 2025.

Diggs led New England with 85 receptions and 1,013 receiving yards and added four touchdowns, helping the Patriots win the AFC East and reach the Super Bowl. He was released by the Patriots for salary cap relief in March.

NFL.com ranked Diggs as the second-best remaining player available, noting he remains an effective route runner and third-down option. Rosenthal said he would’ve ranked Diggs higher but had a pending legal matter when free agency began. Since then, Diggs was found not guilty of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery, and the NFL concluded its investigation and announced Diggs will not be disciplined under the league’s personal conduct policy.

Buffalo’s receiver room looks different entering 2026. The Bills traded for D.J. Moore and drafted UConn wide receiver Skyler Bell in the fourth round.
