New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston is widely regarded as a fan favorite among both Giants fans and the broader NFL fan base.
Winston will enter his second season as New York’s backup quarterback this year. The veteran has served as an excellent mentor for Jaxson Dart during his first year and change with the Giants, and he proved ready to step in at a moment’s notice on multiple occasions last season.
Both Dart and Winston will play under head coach John Harbaugh for the first time in their careers this season. Winston was recently asked for his thoughts on playing under Harbaugh, and the veteran described the Giants’ head coach as the most impressive one he has ever played for.
“He has truly been the most impressive head coach I’ve been around, and I was with Sean Payton, I had Lovie Smith and Bruce Arians,” Winston said on Giants Huddle. “It has truly been a treat to serve him and align our mission to win a Super Bowl.”
Winston could quickly find himself on the field this season should Dart continue taking unnecessary hits in 2026. The veteran appeared in three games last year, including two starts after Dart was sidelined with a concussion, finishing with 567 passing yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants’ offense as a whole will look to take a major leap in Harbaugh’s first year in New York. Dart is expected to take another step forward in his second season, while Winston has proven on numerous occasions that he remains a valuable and reliable option should an injury occur.
