Six nursing homes in Monroe County were named among the best in New York, according to Newsweek.
Among them, the Jewish Home on South Winton Road in Brighton topped the list of “America’s Best Nursing Homes 2026” as one of the largest facilities considered – with more than 150 beds, according to Newsweek. This year marks the fifth consecutive year that The Jewish Home was on the list, and the second straight year that the facility ranked first in New York.
According to the publication, the list features 1,200 nursing homes across 33 states, according to data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and is intended to assist older adults and their families as they consider long-term care options. More than 90 nursing homes in New York are included in Newsweek’s 2026 list
Facilities, according to Newsweek’s Global Editor-in-Chief Nancy Cooper, were selected after the publication considered performance data, recommendations of medical professionals, accreditations and resident satisfaction.
