The Brooklyn Nets recently completed their 2026 NBA Draft on Wednesday after selecting three players in the draft that the team hopes can be vital members of the current rebuild. While much has been made of Brooklyn selecting Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr. and Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson, the Nets made sure that their second-round pick will be in the fold moving forward.
The Nets signed UCLA forward Tyler Bilodeau, whom Brooklyn selected with the No. 43 pick, to a Two-Way contract, according to multiple reports on Wednesday. With forward EJ Liddell signing a contract to play overseas, Brooklyn had an open Two-Way spot to fill and putting Bilodeau in that spot means that he should get plenty of opportunity to develop while playing with the G League team in Long Island.
Bilodeau finished his senior season with the Bruins with averages of 17.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 51.8% from the field and 46.4% from behind the three-point line. Bilodeau, who’s listed at 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds, profiles as a floor-stretching big who may be able to expand his game off the dribble once opposing defenders respect his three-point shot.
“Bilodeau is a top shooter in the class, and he made 46% of his 3s last season, giving him potential offensive utility as a floor spacer in the NBA. Bigs who can shoot it at that clip aren’t easy to find,” ESPN’s Jeremy Woo wrote on Bilodeau prior to the draft before noting his weaknesses. “He doesn’t impact the game much defensively and will need offensive looks created for him. He’s not a shot blocker and may struggle to guard the perimeter.”
Ultimately, time will tell how much playing time Bilodeau sees over the course of the 2026-27 season given that Two-Way players tend to spend the majority of their time in the G League. However, if Bilodeau can show that he’s developing faster than expected, he could enter the rotation after the trade deadline, similar to what Two-Way players in Liddell, Tyson Etienne, and Chaney Johnson did last year.
