Red Wings finish strong with win in Charlotte, keep momentum rolling

Harry Ford and Andrew Pinckney hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning as the Rochester Red Wings beat the Charlotte Knights 9-4 on Sunday.

Yohandy Morales gave Rochester an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning. The Red Wings added two more runs in the second on consecutive singles from Robert Hassell III, Trey Lipscomb and Phillip Glasser, with Glasser driving in Hassell. Charlotte cut the deficit to 3-1 in the second when Mario Camilletti doubled and scored on a groundout by Nolan Jones. Rochester responded in the third with back-to-back doubles from Abimelec Ortiz and Brady House, extending the lead to 4-1.

The Knights tied the game in the sixth when Andy Weber hit an inside-the-park three-run home run off reliever Eddy Yean.

Rochester regained the lead in the eighth. Ford singled and Pinckney followed with a single, setting up Glasser for a two-run single to right field, giving the Red Wings a 6-4 lead.

In the ninth, Morales walked and Ford hit a two-run homer, his third of the year. Pinckney followed with his 12th home run, capping a three-run inning.

Ford finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Pinckney had two hits, two runs and an RBI, while Glasser went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Lipscomb added three hits and a run. Rochester went 3-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base.

Luis Perales started for Rochester, allowing one run on two hits over four innings. Andre Granillo earned his first win of the season, retiring all six batters he faced over two scoreless innings. Red Wings pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and held the Knights to 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Rochester improved to 49-30, while Charlotte fell to 44-37.
