Three Powerball third prize winning tickets, each worth $50,000, were sold in New York state in the Monday, Dec. 15 drawing, including one in the Finger Lakes.
The lucky ticket was sold at the Watkins Glen 7-Eleven store at 814 North Frankin St. in the Schuyler County village.
The Powerball jackpot rose to an estimated $1.15 billion ahead of the Dec. 15, drawing after no one on Saturday, Dec. 13, took home the prize.
The cash value of Monday’s jackpot, which was the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game, was an estimated $524.7 million. But the jackpot, now an estimated $1.25 billion, rose once again after no one won on Monday night.
The other third prize winner Powerball tickets in the Dec. 15 drawing in New York state were sold on Bleecker Street in Manhattan and at Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside, according to the New York Lottery.
The Watkins Glen winner marked the third $50,000 Powerball ticket sold in the region in recent months. A third prize winner in the current jackpot was sold Dec. 10 at the Campbell Mini Mart located at 8488 Main St. in the Steuben County town, while another third-prize ticket was sold in Steuben County at the Hornell Wegmans Aug. 27, when the jackpot stood at $861 million.
