Popular frozen food item sold at Aldi recalled. What to know

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is warning New Yorker and Aldi shoppers nationwide about a recalled frozen, ready-to-eat product due to a possible contamination of foreign material.

Rosina Food Products, Inc., based in West Seneca, New York, recalled 9,462 pounds of its Bremer Italian Style Meatballs on Feb. 22 after FSIS received a customer complaint about metal fragments found in the product.

Aldi issued a recall notice on February 23, stating that all impacted products had been removed from the shelves. The frozen meatballs were sold at stores in 35 states and Washington, D.C.

The FSIS stated that there have been no confirmed reports of injury from the consumption of these products.

The recall applies to the ready-to-eat, frozen Bremer Italian Style Meatballs sold at Aldi locations nationwide. All recalled products will include these details:

The recalled products have the establishment number, “EST. 4286B,” inside the USDA mark of inspection and have a 15-month shelf-life.
