This is a developing story.

The Vista Fire was reported around 4:20 p.m. near Vista Avenue and Telford Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire has the potential to grow to 500 acres and could later impact Highway 74, according to Watch Duty, a wildfire alerting app.

Firefighters have expanded their response as the fire has grown, with additional engines and water tenders requested. Air resources have also increased, including large air tankers and a helicopter.

Vista Fire evacuation orders

Evacuation orders have been issued for zones LSN-1407 and RVC-1408, while warnings have been issued for zones RVC-1272 and LSN-1533.

Zone code — not neighborhood names — are used, so residents should check their evacuation status by entering their address at protect.genasys.com or on Watch Duty.

An evacuation shelter was opened at Ortega High School, located at 520 Chaney St. in Lake Elsinore. The San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus at 581 S. Grand Ave. in San Jacinto is available for those with pets.
