The New York State Department of Transportation is notifying drivers about an overnight closure on State Route 31 in Monroe County.
Due to an ongoing bridge project, State Route 31 on Monroe Avenue will close in both directions near I-590 in the Town of Brighton.
Monroe Avenue East will close at the I-590 South ramp. Drivers are advised to follow the posted detour utilizing Allen’s Creek Road and Clover Street.
Monroe Avenue West will also close at the I-590 North ramp. Drivers are being advised to follow the posted detour utilizing I-590 northbound, Highland Avenue and I-590 southbound to Exit 2A, near Pittsford.
The closures will take place nightly from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. until the morning of May 8.
Drivers should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
Drivers are also being urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
