Mayor Jennifer L. Monachino Lapey, a Republican, leads Democrat Mark Cardwell by 1,191 votes to 1,190, in the southern Westchester County village.
Deciding the winner could come down to whether there are outstanding ballots and affidavits to be counted that were postmarked by Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Who is Jennifer Monachino Lapey?
According to the village Republicans’ website, during Lapey’s time as mayor Pelham Manor has complied with the state’s tax cap, is debt free and consistently receives a favorable rating from the state comptroller. Lapey steered re-introduction of the DARE program in elementary schools and has driven safety efforts such as adding crossing guards at strategic locations and securing the first red-light traffic enforcement camera for a village in the state, the description said.
Who is Mark Cardwell?
According to the village Democrats’ website, Cardwell is a communications and strategy professional who has leadership experience in government and Fortune 500 companies. He is a volunteer firefighter and served as a scout leader and community volunteer.
