NFL power rankings round-up 2025: How do Giants fare entering Week 14?

The New York Giants’ season hit rock bottom Monday night, crumbling 33-15 to the New England Patriots and slumping to a dismal 2-11. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, drafted to save them, took a brutal hit that exposed his reckless pocket presence — he’s got to learn self-preservation or get carried off.

Kicker Younghoe Koo’s botch? A comedy of errors, gifting the ball to New England on a platter. And interim coach Mike Kafka’s post-game ramble? Pure surreal word salad, dodging blunt questions and skirting accountability like a pro.

Seventh straight loss, 13th road flop — an all-time franchise low. This team’s a laughingstock; rebuild? More like rebuild from the ashes of irrelevance.

As we enter Week 14, here’s a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

Nate Davis, USA TODAY: 30 (-2)

To summarize for any prospective head coaches − the rookie quarterback is determined to play recklessly, and the rookie pass rushers seems determined … not to play at all.

Frank Schwab, Yahoo! Sports: 28 (-1)

All the Giants had to do in Week 7 was close out a 19-0 fourth-quarter lead at Denver and they would have been 3-4. Instead, the Broncos scored 33 points in the fourth quarter and beat the Giants, which started a seven-game losing streak that is still ongoing. There have been promising moments for the Giants this season, but still a long way to go to get to respectability.

Diante Lee, The Ringer: 27 (-1)

Getting crushed a handful of times each game is something all quarterbacks should try to avoid. Jaxson Dart has been a fun watch and a valuable part of New York’s rushing attack this season, but there’s no way he can continue taking this kind of beating and be the franchise quarterback the Giants need him to be for the next decade. Taking these hits was never cute, quirky, or honorable. And on Monday night, when he made his return after missing a couple of games with a concussion, he showed that he hasn’t changed how he plays, which is just reckless.

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: 29 (-1)

The Giants will hope to stay competitive with interim coach Mike Kafka, getting a needed late lift from the return of Jaxson Dart to duel Maye in New England on Monday night.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: 28 (-2)

The defense has been awful, which is one of the biggest surprises of the season. So much for having a dominant front.

Conor Orr, Sports Illustrated: 30 (-2)

The next head coach of the New York Giants will definitely make a high-profile mention in his opening press conference about keeping Jaxson Dart from putting his body in harm’s way.

Josh Kendall, The Athletic: 29 (-1)

There are plenty of reasons for the Giants to be optimistic about their rookie quarterback. But in his first game back from a concussion, Dart was pulverized by a massive hit near the sideline instead of simply sliding or getting out of bounds. To stay in games and prolong his career, he has to learn to get down and protect himself.

Barry Werner, List Wire: 29 (+1)

The first half was total humiliation against New England. Keeping anyone in upper management would be a total charade. This team needs to a complete overhaul and that means anyone and everyone associated with the 2025 season and recent previous seasons.

Walter Football: 25 (NC)

The Giants would have played closer to the Patriots if it weren’t for all the special teams gaffes they had. It didn’t help that Mike Kafka made a million coaching mistakes throughout the evening.

NFL Nation, ESPN: 29 (-2)

Kayvon Thibodeaux missed his third straight game Monday night because of a shoulder injury, and he has just 2.5 sacks in 10 games. The edge rusher started 2025 strong, but the injury has hurt his value moving forward. Thibodeaux has a fifth-year option in 2026, but he could have been up for a new contract had this season gone well. Now, it will be interesting to see how he finishes on the field. It could go a long way in determining his future with the team.
