The Kansas City Royals announced that Jonathan India, a former Cincinnati Reds fan favorite, successfully underwent season-ending labral repair surgery April 28.
India is in his second season with the Royals after playing his first four seasons for the Reds.
Kansas City acquired India from Cincinnati in November 2024 with Joey Wiemer for pitcher Brady Singer.
In 58 plate appearances this season, India batted .167 with two homers. India batted .233 with nine homers and 45 RBIs over 567 PAs in 136 games in 2025.
India, the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year, batted .253 with 63 HRs over four seasons in Cincinnati.
