The New York Giants took the field on Wednesday for their first of three practices ahead of a Week 12 game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Beforehand, interim head coach Mike Kafka updated the status of several injured players, including rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who returned to practice (non-contact) for the first time since suffering a concussion in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.
If Dart, who is on track to return against the Detroit Lions, is fully cleared and starts on Sunday, Jameis Winston will serve as his backup with Russell Wilson playing the role of emergency QB.
The Giants also opened the 21-day practice window for running back Eric Gray, who tore his meniscus in the spring and has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
For several other key players, including cornerback Paulson Adebo, the news wasn’t nearly as positive. He, wide receiver Darius Slayton, and linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux were among those who sat out.
