The New York Giants went on the road to battle the Washington Commanders to kick off the 2025 season. The vibes seemed different ahead of the game with Russell Wilson at quarterback despite the Giants coming in as near-touchdown underdogs on the road.
As the game went on, it became apparent that the Giants remained stagnant on offense. The offensive line did not give Russell Wilson and the offense a chance to get going at any point during the game.
The Giants had just one trip to the red zone in the first half and failed to punch it in despite getting a second chance on a Washington defensive holding penalty.
Washington was up 14-3 at halftime, and the Giants closed to a one-possession game late in the 3rd quarter.
The Commanders pulled away late in the fourth quarter, and the Giants failed to score in their lone trip to the red zone in the second half as well.
The game ended with a final score of 21-6, and the Giants failed to score a touchdown in Week 1 for the third straight season.
