A Stony Point resident who fatally shot a man and then set the victim’s car on fire with him in it has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, the Rockland District Attorney’s Office said.
Robert Rodriguez, 38, was sentenced for the 2021 killing of Ronald Mann of Haverstraw. Rockland Judge Kevin Russo also imposed five years of post-release supervision.
Rodriguez shot Mann on February 15, 2021, on the Call Hollow Road property where Rodriguez lived. He then drove Mann’s Hyundai Sonata with the body in it to the Exit 16 ramp off the Palisades Interstate Parkway, doused the car with gasoline and set it on fire.
State police investigated the killing and arrested Rodriguez on charges including second-degree murder in February 2024. He was allowed to plead guilty in November 2025 to first-degree manslaughter, sparing him a life sentence.
“For three years, investigators pursued every lead with determination and precision, and today, that persistence has delivered accountability,” District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said in a news release announcing the sentencing. “This defendant’s actions were calculated and callous, but the tireless work of law enforcement ensured the truth was uncovered.”
