Man killed in single car crash early Tuesday morning on Mitchell Hollow Road in Montour

A man was killed in the early morning hours Tuesday, Sept. 16 in a motor vehicle accident on Mitchell Hollow Road in the Town of Montour. 

Thomas J. Gaylor was driving a 2014 Honda on Mitchell Hollow Road when the single-car crash occurred. Deputies responded at about 5:36 a.m., according to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department. Gaylor’s age and hometown were not provided.

Deputies arrived at the scene and located the white 2014 Honda that had been involved in the crash.  

Gaylor, the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. An investigation conducted by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division determined that speed was a contributing factor in the accident. 

The Schuyler County Coroner’s Office, Odessa Fire Department, Montour Falls Fire Department, and the Centralus Health EMS responded to the scene. Wolf’s Garage also provided support with vehicle recovery.
