Local arts nonprofits to receive state grants to improve buildings

The Kirkland Arts Center, the Rome Community Theater and Sculpture Space are among the local arts and cultural nonprofits that will receive grants from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Capital Projects Fund, state Senator Joseph Griffo announced.

The grants are to pay for critical building improvements such as roofs, safety improvements or air conditioning.

Here are the grants within Griffo’s district, which includes Oneida and Madison counties, Griffo, R-Rome, announced:

“These institutions promote the arts, provide a variety of enriching educational and cultural programs, and help to spur economic activity in the region,” Griffo said in a statement. “This important financial support from Council on the Arts will help each of them make important improvements that will enhance their facilities and help them to flourish for years to come.”
