The New York Giants stand at a crossroads as they prepare for the 2026 regular season. They are coming off a three-year stretch that saw them compile a putrid 13-38 record, producing some of the worst football in the franchise’s century-long history.
That ugly stretch, however, comes with a silver lining. The Giants woke up and made wholesale changes to their front office, coaching staff, and roster, which has created an optimism not seen in East Rutherford in some time.
With an accomplished head coach in place (John Harbaugh) and a fresh approach to both the on-field and off-field aspects of the game, Big Blue could be headed for greener pastures.
None of that can happen, though, without the continued growth of second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Dart has been identified by Bleacher Report as the Giants’ most promising building block of 2026.
Like Tyler Shough, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart became a sensation during his rookie season. The 2025 first-round pick out of Mississippi exhibited a reckless running style but proved himself as a playmaker early and often.
While Dart went just 4-8 as a starter, he tallied 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards, 24 combined rushing and passing touchdowns, and a 91.7 quarterback rating.
Now in his first offseason as the unquestioned starter, Dart is poised to build on what he accomplished as a rookie.
“I think Jaxson’s taken the next step in his game, and he’s understanding the defense a lot better,” center John Michael Schmitz told Giants Huddle (h/t Jake Boico of Giants Wire).
Dart will need to do a better job of protecting himself moving forward, but he has the potential to make New York’s offense truly special.
The Giants’ offense came alive under Dart in 2025, giving fans some hope for the future. With experienced offensive coaches such as coordinator Matt Nagy, quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan, and run-game guru Greg Roman in the door, Dart will be put in the best situations to prosper. The rest is up to him, now.
