How will Isaiah Likely add to the New York Giants’ offense this coming season?
The Giants have assembled a strong offensive unit this offseason despite losing star wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in free agency. New York signed former 1,000-yard receiver Darnell Mooney and drafted standout wide receiver Malachi Fields to join Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Theo Johnson.
While the Giants are heavily invested in Johnson, there is still room to carve out a meaningful workload for Likely and make him a valuable contributor to the offense.
Likely was effective for the Baltimore Ravens last season, particularly on flat routes and in-breaking routes. The Coastal Carolina product caught 75 percent of his targets and proved to be a reliable option for quarterback Lamar Jackson whenever he was thrown to.
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will be counted on to extend drives and make better decisions when scrambling outside the pocket next season. Likely can serve as a dependable dump-off option in short-yardage situations when the pocket collapses. With his speed and decisiveness, he can get open quickly on his routes.
Likely will also be a favorite target over the middle and in the endzone, where his 6-foot-4, 241-pound frame can be used to create mismatches against linebackers and safeties.
Ultimately, smart and sound play from Dart will be a major factor in determining how much the Giants’ offense grows next season.
