Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane pulled off another move that doesn’t seem very surprising anymore.
Ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline, it has been reported that the Bills restructured the contract of cornerback Taron Johnson.
Reportedly the move that likely involved Beane helped create $1.75 million in extra salary cap space for the team. The Johnson transaction came down on Monday, one day ahead of the 2025 trade deadline:
According to Over The Cap, the Johnson restructure could give the Bills around $3.5 million in cap space to now work with. Making such moves has routinely happened since Beane became general manager back in 2018.
However, just because Beane did his due diligence to find this cap space, it does not mean a new piece will be heading to Buffalo via trade. This could be a precautionary decision just in case a deal does come about. Plus, it takes “two to tango” when it comes to finding a trade partner.
Johnson was a fourth-round pick by the Bills in 2018. He has spent his entire NFL career in Buffalo.
