Weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry returns for a third season on May 23 after two summers of surging ridership.
Hourly service for the 15-minute trip across the Hudson River will run between 11:23 a.m. and 9:10 p.m. on the weekends, except for Memorial Day and Labor Day. It will, however, run on the Fourth of July.
“The ferry provides a convenient connection between Rockland and Westchester and the weekend service gives customers a chance to enjoy the Hudson Valley,” said Metro-North Railroad President Justin Vonashek. “From summer days on the river to peak fall foliage, extending service through Halloween gives customers more time to take advantage of everything the route has to offer.”
A one-way ticket for the 5 1/2 -mile crossing is $4.75 for adults, up from $4.50 last year. Seniors 62 and older, children between the ages of 6 and 11, people with disabilities and Medicare recipients pay $2.50. Children 5 and under ride free. A ten-trip ticket costs $40.

In Ossining, travelers can connect with Metro-North trains to and from Manhattan.
“Combined with our own Transport of Rockland (TOR) Weekend Ferry Connection bus, travelers can cross the beautiful Hudson to the Landing at Haverstraw Bay and from there, discover all that Rockland has to offer, including our charming river towns and shops, fairs and festivals, scenic trails, local eateries, and more — all just 30 miles from NYC,” Rockland County Executive Ed Day said.
The service debuted in May 2024. By July 2025, it was averaging 455 riders per day on weekends. A record 822 passengers rode the ferry on July 21, 2025.
On the Rockland side of the river, popular destinations include Haverstraw Village, the Garner Arts Center and Rockland State Park. The TOR is free and runs each between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. on weekends.
The service will run through Oct. 31.
