LONDON, May 8 (Reuters) – World food prices climbed in April for a third consecutive month, with vegetable oil prices particularly elevated due to disruptions linked to the Iran war, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization said on Friday.
The FAO Food Price Index, which measures changes in a basket of globally traded food commodities, averaged 130.7 points in April, up 1.6% from its revised March level.
In a separate report, the FAO slightly raised its 2025 global cereal production estimate to a record 3.040 billion metric tons, 6% above levels seen a year ago.
