Four Mid-Hudson track and field athletes advance to 2025 NCAA championships

The Mid-Hudson had four of 22 regional competitors advance to the June 11-14 NCAA track and field championships, following regional action last week.

True to form, Cornwall High School graduate Karrie Baloga placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the West Regionals. A sophomore at Northern Arizona, she finished in 9 minutes, 40.13 seconds.

At the East meet, Newburgh Free Academy grad James Onwuka was part of a Penn State 1,600-meter relay that finished second in its heat and eighth overall in a season-best 3:03.557.

Army advanced two standout athletes qualify for NCAAs. Senior Emily Fink was the top seed in the women’s hammer but finished fourth at 218 feet. In the men’s 3,000 steeplechase, junior Nathan Davis finished second in his heat and ninth overall in 8:38.72.
