Due to falling temperatures, a Code Blue for shelters throughout Tompkins County has been activated Oct. 27.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in Tompkins County could fall as low as 30 degrees overnight on Oct. 27, with a calm wind also expected.
Code Blue programs provide temporary shelter for those in need during nights when temperatures fall below 32 degrees and there is a wind chill.
To access Code Blue sheltering between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, visit the Department of Social Services at 320 W. Martin Luther King Jr./West State St. or call DSS Emergency Housing Services at 607-274-5030.
After hours or on weekends, call non-emergency dispatch at 607-272-2444 to be connected to DSS.
