With the winter season officially coming to a close, and Windsor High School narrowly beating Seton Catholic to claim the title of the “best student section in the Southern Tier” for the winter, it’s time for fans to give a crown to their chosen winter athletes of the year.
Several male athletes across Section 4 have dominated in their respective sports, creating headlines and outshining their competition this season. The question is: what characteristics make a standout athlete?
Is it the ability to break records, the ability to lead a team, or the ability to show out year after year? Or is a standout athlete a player that possesses all of those things?
The Southern Tier Athletic Conference and the Basketball Coaches of New York Association named the 2025-26 Player(s) of the Year and all-stars for the winter season.
Curious who the fans’ choice all-stars are, we’re giving fans, teammates and coaches a new system to crown the Winter Male Athlete(s) of the Season.
One basketball player, bowler, wrestler, swimmer, and indoor track & field athlete will claim the title of “Male Athlete of the Season” through your submissions.
The top four names with the most submissions (upon review) will be added to a “Male Athlete of the Season” bracket.
The athlete with the most votes will advance to the final round via poll.
For example:
*Please submit with the format: Firstname Lastname, i.e. John Smith
Boys Basketball
Boys Bowling
Boys Swimming & Diving
Boys Wrestling
Indoor Track & Field – Boys
Note: All submissions will close at 12:00 noon ET on Friday, April 10.
