The City of Corning recently reached a five-year agreement with the Corning International Association of Firefighters Local 932 extending the current labor contract through June 30, 2031.
City Manager Mark Ryckman said the agreement provides for competitive wage increases designed to support the recruitment and retention of qualified firefighters while also including several provisions intended to improve operational flexibility and address the City’s long-term financial sustainability.
“The negotiations were productive, respectful, and conducted in a professional manner from beginning to end,” Ryckman said. “The members of the City’s bargaining team and the representatives of the IAFF Local 932 worked collaboratively to reach an agreement that recognizes the important work our firefighters perform while also addressing the City’s financial responsibilities.”
