Chick-fil-A, Inc., the unique Atlanta-based restaurant franchise company famous for the quality of its food and customer service, plans to open its first franchise in the Mohawk Valley that is not located in a New York State Thruway Service Area.
The restaurant is coming to New Hartford, in the current parking lot of the AT HOME Plaza, 4645 Commercial Drive, confirmed New Hartford Town Supervisor Paul Miscione.
Currently, the nearest Chick-Fil-A locations are located in Canastota and Little Falls, both in New York State Thruway Service areas, with the nearest community-based location over 30 miles from the Mohawk Valley.
Restaurant representatives were not immediately available for comment.

Chick-fil-A founder, S. Truett Cathy, opened his first Chick-fil-A restaurant in an Atlanta shopping mall in 1967, according to the company’s website.
Almost 60 years later, Chick-fil-A, Inc. is the third largest quick-service restaurant company in the United States, employing ore than 200,000 Team Members, working for local Owner-Operators in more than 3,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in the United Kingdom in early 2025. The first Singapore restaurant is set to open in late 2025, which will be the chain’s first location in Asia. Plans are to launch five more locations across the U.K. by 2027.
The family-owned and privately held company is currently led by CEO Andrew T. Cathy, grandson of the company’s founder.
