Bills lose defensive captain with calf injury against Eagles

The Buffalo Bills’ defensive captain is out for the rest of the game.

Linebacker Terrel Bernard left with a calf injury in the second quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He was initially ruled questionable to return but was downgraded to out.

Bernard went into the blue medical tent then exited the tent and talked with athletic trainers.

He was replaced by linebacker Shaq Thompson, who started the game at linebacker in place of Bernard.

Bernard was playing in his second game since returning from a three-game absence due to a dislocated elbow.
