Vote for the Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of Week for May 4-10

With 48% of the total vote share, Roy C. Ketcham’s Londin Watkins is the Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3.

The Poughkeepsie Journal Girls Athlete of the Week for May 4-10 is now live.

Nominations are based on information gathered and received by the Poughkeepsie Journal throughout the week. For consideration, coaches are asked to submit game information and player stats to Edecker@usatodayco.com before the end of the week.

Each week’s winner will be selected and posted in the upcoming week’s poll. Polls will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night before the announcement the following morning.

Alaina Lugo, John Jay softball

Lugo finished the week with six hits, two home runs, six RBIs and two runs scored.

Gianna Jones, Highland softball

Johns struck out 11, allowing just four hits while also securing two hits and three RBIs of her own in an 11-3 victory over Catskill. She also struck out 11 and picked up an RBI in a 10-9 win over Spackenkill.

Sophia Rescigno, Arlington girls lacrosse

Rescigno scored seven goals and recorded two assists in the week.

Emily Nevermann, Pawling girls lacrosse

Nevermann scored nine goals and tallied two assists in a 21-8 victory over Haldane.

Quinn Ahrenholz, Highland girls lacrosse

Ahrenholz scored 14 goals in a 3-0 week for the Huskies.

Talia Durant, Pine Plains softball

Durant tossed a 15-strikeout complete game while also going 2-4 with an RBI in a 10-0 win over Spackenkill.

Jamie Gemmel, Arlington flag football

Gemmel had a standout week recording 161 yards receiving and five touchdown receptions, 161 passing yards and four passing touchdowns and three interceptions on defense.

Sam Maleck, Marlboro softball

Maleck struck out 12 and allowed two hits while also racking up two hits and an RBI in a 5-1 victory over Rondout.

Sam Harris, Arlington softball

Harris finished with four hits, a home run, two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored in the week.

Morgan Doughty, John Jay track and field

Doughty won the javelin throw (117-8) at the Glenn D. Loucks Games in White Plains
