The wait is nearly over for Archie’s Cannabis Company.

The new cannabis dispensary in Horseheads will open Tuesday at a former Denny’s restaurant location on Chemung Street.

Crews have been hard at work transforming the building from a restaurant into a dispensary, and the new business is just about ready for its debut.

“We are excited to be 100% ready to open at this 950 Chemung St. site,” said owner Kevin McFall. “We’ve been working on this site for more than a year so to get to this point is great.”

Archie’s Cannabis Company will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week once the dispensary officially opens.

McFall said upon entry there will be an ID check to make sure everyone is at least 21 years old. The menu at Archie’s will offer an array of cannabis products, including a variety of flowers, pre-rolls, concentrates, vapes, gummies, candy bars, accessories and more.

Customers will be able to shop in-store or online with a pickup option. A mobile app is planned to eventually allow customers to browse the menu, place express orders and earn loyalty rewards.

The interior of the dispensary features couches and barrel seating aimed at creating an inviting atmosphere where customers can relax and find the right product. Archie’s Cannabis Company “redefines the dispensary experience with modern decor and warm wooden elements.”

“Step into a space that celebrates cannabis culture through nods to iconic movies and celebrities,” states Archie’s website. “Our décor embraces the recreational spirit of cannabis with style and personality … Experience a dispensary that reflects genuine passion and character rather than corporate sterility.”

Horseheads Village Mayor Kevin Adams said McFall has put a tremendous financial investment into revitalizing the former Danny’s restaurant building, and the project has the support of the village. Archie’s Cannabis Company will mark the first dispensary in Horseheads.

“I’m 100 percent in support of small business,” Adams said. “Kevin McFall bought that building, put a ton of money into it and I thank him for his investment.”

Dispensaries have begun to pop up in the Elmira and Corning areas a few years after New York state legalized marijuana sales. The Dabber Hashery, a craft cannabis boutique, opened in January at 1051 College Ave. in Elmira.

Culture Canna Co. debuted on Corning’s Market Street in March, becoming the first legal marijuana enterprise to open in Steuben County. Union Chill Cannabis Company, a cannabis dispensary on West Pulteney St. at the former Corning Leader building, plans to open in Corning this spring.

According to a New York State Office of Cannabis Management report, the cannabis tax, application fee and fine revenue totaled $80.2 million for the state fiscal year 2023-2024.

The Town of Henrietta in suburban Rochester, which had two operating dispensaries for much of 2024, has generated over $750,000 in cannabis tax revenue.
