Albertsons says no Westchester Acme or Balducci’s stores are closing

News reports have said Albertsons, the parent company of Acme and Balducci’s Food Lovers Market, closed multiple grocery stores in several states last year, with additional closures planned this year.

The reports raised questions about whether any Westchester County locations could be affected. The county has several Acme stores and two Balducci’s locations, in Rye Brook and Scarsdale.

Dana Ward, a spokesperson for Albertsons, said there are currently no plans to close any Acme or Balducci’s stores in Westchester County.

Ward also said the company has no current plans to open additional locations in the county.

Closures reported in several states

Fast Company reported that roughly half of Albertsons’ recent store closures occurred in California and Texas. Other closures were reported in Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Albertsons also owns several grocery chains beyond Acme and Balducci’s.

An Acme store in Edgewater, New Jersey, is expected to close in August after its lease expires, according to northjersey.com, part of the USA TODAY Network.
