The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Middletown High School selected Marlee Blauvelt and Anthony Russo.

Marlee Blauvelt

Varsity sports: Girls volleyball; indoor and outdoor track and field
Athletic honors: Track and field – team captain
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: National Honor Society; student council; senior enrichment
Community service: Homeless Animals Advocate; Tutoring; Wreaths Across America; National Honor Society
Future plans: University of Albany, majoring in nursing
Anthony Russo
Class rank: 6
Varsity sports: Football; boys basketball; boys tennis
Athletic honors: Football – team captain; Section 9 team champ and three-time finalist; Tennis – team captain; three-time sectional tournament qualifier; three-time team MVP
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: National Honor Society; Rivalry series scholar athlete; nine-time state scholar athlete; academic excellence award for geometry, Spanish and government
Community service: City of Middletown litter pickup; volunteer with BCANY Coaches vs. Cancer, Saint Joseph’s Church, Middletown warming station; National Honor Society tutoring
Future plans: SUNY Brockport, majoring in physical education
